Q: Do I need to have a SQL server for FinJinni to work?

A: FinJinni Pro requires a Microsoft-SQL-Server database to store the data extracted from QB. You can install SQL Server Express through the FinJinni install wizard or separately if you want it on a network server (See Admin Guide).


Q: I already have a SQL server installed; can I use it as is?

A: Yes, you can. Just make sure when adding a new company to FinJinni that you change the server name to match your server or to “(local)” if FinJinni and your server are on the same machine.


Q: Do I need to know SQL to use FinJinni?

A: No, Using FinJinni doesn’t require SQL knowledge.


Q: Will FinJinni work if my database is in the cloud?

A: Yes, FinJinni supports Microsoft Azure Cloud.


Q: Will FinJinni work if I use QuickBooks hosting?

A: Yes, FinJinni works with Right Networks, iNSYNQ and Cloud Jumper hosting.


Q: What are additional users; do I need them to use FinJinni?

A: FinJinni “Users” refer to Excel users with the ability to produce FinJinni reports against the database created by FinJinni. FinJinni Professional comes with 1 user and additional users may be purchased.


Q: What are additional companies; do I need them to use FinJinni?

A: FinJinni “Companies” refer to QuickBooks company files. FinJinni Professional comes with 3 companies and additional companies may be purchased.


Q: Is FinJinni a web application, or do I need to install it to work?

A: FinJinni “Companies” refer to QuickBooks company files. FinJinni Professional comes with 3 companies and additional companies may be purchased.


Q: How do I know which FinJinni product to purchase, what is the difference between them?

  • FinJinni Professional is our standard and recommended product. It will not only extract data from QuickBooks, but also provides extended reporting capability for multiple companies.
  • FinJinni SAAS provides advanced functionality focused towards Auditing Firms and Franchise Businesses, it makes use of an uploader app to sync client data without requiring access to their QuickBooks accounts.
  • FinJinni Importer allows for the importing of complex budgets from Excel into FinJinni, and transaction data into QuickBooks
